Thanks to the Washington International Horse Show, BarnManager, and the efforts of the riders of the Iron Bridge Hounds Pony Club, the lucky Pony Club members will be receiving a free clinic with renowned trainer Stacia Madden.

During the group’s Pony Club camp earlier this year, members of the Iron Bridge Hounds Pony Club, which operates out of Sandy Spring, MD, came together to film and edit a video entry for the Washington International Horse Show (WIHS) Barn Night Video Contest, sponsored by BarnManager.

Then, on Thursday, October 25, during the WIHS Barn Night at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., the group’s video was played on the jumbotron and announced as the winner from among all of the entries, all of which followed this year’s contest theme of “Riding Through the Decades.”

“It really was fun!” said Penelope Roelser, a member of the Pony Club who was heavily involved in the making of the two-minute video entry, alongside her mother, Carey Roelser. “It was a lot of editing. We actually had an idea of going in a time machine, but then we found out it had to be two minutes, so we had to cut it down a lot.”

“Penelope had a lot of great ideas,” added Carey. “Unfortunately, I couldn’t bring them all to fruition because we only had a couple minutes, so our first go at it was really just a lot of fun, then we kind of just pared it down and pared it down. They were excited because they saw the video last year when we came. They thought they could do that!”

For the win, the group was presented with a clinic with Stacia Madden, to be held at time of their choosing over the course of the next year. Madden is one of the most successful trainers of young, developing show jumping talent in the U.S., and the clinic with her is made possible by the support of BarnManager.

“It’s super exciting,” said Carey. “I think all the girls were excited; being a school night they couldn’t all come, but I think they’re all rooting for us. It’s really awesome!”
