Beezie Madden won her second consecutive Martha Jolicoeur Leading Lady Rider Award of the season on Saturday, March 14, during week 10 at the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) in Wellington, FL.

Madden, a four-time U.S. Olympic medalist, tied for a second-place finish in the $37,000 CSI3* Equinimity WEF Challenge Cup Round 10 on Thursday, March 12. She then jumped double clear to place fourth in Saturday’s $137,000 CSI3* Horseware Ireland Grand Prix. Madden rode Garant, a nine-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding (Warrant x Verdi TN) owned by Abigail Wexner, in both classes.

“This award is super,” said Madden, 56, of Cazenovia, NY. “It recognizes consistency throughout the week and highlights some girl power, too.

“I could not be more pleased with how my horse jumped today!” continued Madden.  “My plan was to build my string up for the end of the season, so I feel like they are peaking now. We had a really good two weeks, and they are right where I want them to be. I am really happy with that.”

In recognition of winning the Leading Lady title, Jolicoeur presented Madden with a bottle of champagne, a bouquet of flowers, and a gift certificate for a shopping spree at Hunt, Ltd.

Throughout WEF, the Martha Jolicoeur Leading Lady Rider Award, given in memory of fellow realtor and horseman Dale Lawler, is presented weekly to the high-score female rider based on performances in the weekly WEF Challenge Cup Series and featured grand prix events. The Martha Jolicoeur Overall Leading Lady Rider Award will be presented to the female rider who accumulated the most points throughout the season on Sunday, March 15, to conclude WEF. So far this season, Madden is joined by Lillie Keenan, Jessica Springsteen, Adrienne Sternlicht, and Kirsten VanderVeen of the United States, as well as Great Britain’s Amanda Derbyshire and Alexandra Thornton, and Canada’s Vanessa Mannix, in contention for the overall title.

A sponsor and dedicated supporter of horse sport at WEF for many years, 2020 marks Jolicoeur’s 10th season presenting the weekly Leading Lady Rider Award. A former grand prix competitor herself, Jolicoeur enjoyed a successful international show jumping career before becoming Florida’s number one Douglas Elliman real estate broker for 2018.
