Aaron Vale and I Adermie R 4, owned by Lori Osterstock, claimed victory in the $40,000 1.45m CSI3* Speed on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, during the first day of Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) CSI3* competition at World Equestrian Center – Ocala in Ocala, FL.

This morning Lori Osterstock passed away after fighting a long battle with cancer. World Equestrian Center – Ocala sends condolences to family, friends and the Vale family for their loss.

“It’s been an emotional day for everyone at the barn,” said Vale. “While I was on course with I Adermie R 4 I got jumped loose through the last combination and I think Lori pushed me back on. She was my guardian angel and flew with us through that course today.”

Vale and the 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare were one of the 30 competitors in the class taking place in the WEC Grand Arena. The pair produced an unbeatable time of 62.62 seconds to top the podium.

“As always, there was fresh material out in the arena,” commented Vale. “The jumps today were so beautiful. The prettiest I have ever seen in America and anywhere I have been in the world. It’s fabulous the way they are able to keep new jumps coming to keep the ring fresh for the horses that continuously show here. All of my horses were incredible today and rose to the occasion. I know Lori was cheering me on the entire time.”

Jacqueline Steffens Daly (CAN) rode Ninja, owned by Eye Candy Jumpers, to second place with a time of 63.47. Vale secured third-place honors on Cristo Beech, owned by Alise Carrico and Thinkslikeahorse after stopping the clock at 63.67 seconds.

Opening FEI Victory Goes to Santiago Lambre in the $6,000 1.40m CSI3* Speed Aboard Casey

Santiago Lambre (BRA) piloted his own Casey to the top prize in the $6,000 1.40m CSI3* Speed on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. Alan Wade (IRL) set a technical track for the 32 horse-and-rider combinations representing 7 different nations. Lambre and the 13-year-old Hanoverian mare went towards the beginning of the order and navigated the course with ease. The pair stopped the timers in 60.89 seconds to claim victory.

“It was a perfect course for an opening class,” commented Lambre. “Many riders enter this class to give their horses a chance in the ring and have a nice school. Casey has been in this arena many times. I was able to take some inside turns and go quick, but I didn’t want to do anything too crazy.”

Second place was awarded to Peter Petschenig (AUT) and his own It’s The Senator 111 after they crossed the timers at 65.16 seconds. Chloe Reid (USA) and Luis P, owned by Live Oak Plantation, secured third place with a time of 65.22 seconds.
