The prestigious Capital Challenge Horse Show returns for its 32nd year on Wednesday, September 24, and continues through Sunday, September 28, with the Equitation Showcase, presented by BIGEQ.com, followed by hunter, jumper, and equitation competition from Monday, September 29, to Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Prince George’s Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, MD. The 2025 schedule and entry process information are now available at www.CapitalChallenge.org. The official prize list will be available online on July 27, 2025, with entries opening on July 29, 2025, at 10 a.m. EDT.
2025 Capital Challenge Entries
Exhibitors can submit entries electronically for The Capital Challenge Horse Show through the Show Management System™ starting Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 10 a.m. EST. All entries must be received before midnight EST on Sunday, August 31, 2025.
At the time of entry, exhibitors may also register their horse for consideration for the Connaway & Associates North American-Bred High Point Horse Award, which honors the horse bred in the United States, Canada, or Mexico that has earned the highest score in a jumping round in a professional division or special class.
2025 Tentative Time Schedule
The tentative time schedule for the 2025 Capital Challenge Horse Show is now available online.
New in 2025, the Marshall+Sterling/United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) 3’3” Jumping Seat Medal Finals will take place over three days, from Wednesday, September 24, to Friday, September 26, 2025.
- Phase 1 (Flat) will take place on Wednesday, September 24
- Phase 2 (Gymnastics) will take place on Thursday, September 25
- Phase 3 (Final) will take place on Friday, September 26
Equitation Spotlight
The Capital Challenge Horse Show hosts several major equitation finals during the popular Equitation Showcase, which attracts qualified junior and amateur riders from across the country to compete in the Show Place Arena.

The Capital Challenge Horse Show schedule also features a series of World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) Challenges and Finals. The program awards year-end honors to riders at all levels for their excellence in the hunter discipline and hosts an exciting championship competition for professionals held in a unique head-to-head format.

About the Capital Challenge Horse Show
The Capital Challenge Horse Show, an official USEF Heritage Competition, has a distinct and unique focus on preeminent hunter and equitation competition. The 2025 edition of the Capital Challenge Horse Show will take place from September 24-October 5. The 12 days of competition include prestigious equitation events, jumper divisions, the World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) Finals, the Green Hunter North American Championships, and more, with many of the country’s best horses and riders competing in junior, amateur, and professional divisions.
