Santiago Lambre and Chacco Blue II Boldly Claim $100,000 Hampton Green Farms Grand Prix Victory

Santiago Lambre (BRA) and his own Chacco Blue II secured top honors in the $100,000 Hampton Green Farms Grand Prix on Saturday, February 25, 2023, during the eighth week of the Winter Spectacular Show Series at World Equestrian Center – Ocala in Ocala, FL. A field of 28 competitors representing nine different nations tackled the first-round course designed by Colm Quinn (IRL). After a challenging first round, only seven horse-and-rider combinations managed to qualify for the jump-off. Lambre and the 16-year-old Oldenburg stallion were the fifth pair to return for the jump-off and produced an unbeatable time of 43.135 seconds to claim victory.
“Chacco Blue II is a slow mover but has a mile-long step and can turn very well,” said Lambre of his mount. “Tonight, he showed his speed. I tried to gallop everywhere I could and be tight back to the second to last vertical. Luckily for us, both tight turns were on his good side, and not his blind side. If it were on his blind eye side, I would’ve had to give him a touch more room but this course was perfect for him. Then to the last line I just kept kicking. I am not even sure how many I did, but I just tried to go as fast as I could.”
Lauren Balcomb (AUS) and her own Verdini d’Houtveld Z took home second-place honors after stopping the clock at 43.272 seconds. Dorothy Douglas and MTM Pablo, owned by Davenport Farms, rounded out the podium with a time of 43.372 seconds.

Richard Rinehart and Vincent Top the $15,000 Buckeye Nutrition Futures Prix at WEC – Ocala
Richard Rinehart (USA) piloted Vincent, owned by Ron Caraway, to the top prize in the $15,000 Buckeye Nutrition Futures Prix on Saturday, February 25, 2023, in the WEC Grand Arena. Colm Quinn (IRL) set an intricate track for the 27 horse-and-rider combinations entered in the class. Nine competitors navigated a clear first round to advance to the jump-off. Rinehart and the 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding stopped the clock at 30.803 seconds to secure first-place honors by a lead of three seconds.
Sean Jobin (CAN) rode Eric de la Chenee, owned by Foxridge Farms Stables, to a second-place finish with a time of 33.982 seconds. Third place was earned by Camille Maddrix (USA) aboard Jack Straw, owned by M&M Sporthorses, after the pair stopped the timers at 34.764 seconds.
