Santiago Lambre (BRA) piloted his own Comtess 202 to the top prize in the $75,000 Coors Light Grand Prix, brought to you by Cone Distributing Inc. on Saturday, January 29, at World Equestrian Center Ocala – during the Winter Spectacular IV show in Ocala, FL. Colm Quinn (IRL) designed two technical tracks for the 32 competitive horse-and-rider combinations that entered the class. Lambre and the 11-year-old Westphalian mare were one of 12 entries that returned for the jump-off, and the pair delivered a second fault-free round in 38.475 seconds to take home the win.
“Comtess is a fantastic mare,” said Lambre. “I have owned her for about a year now. I won two grands prix on her last winter. She’s done a few four-star grands prix, and I think she’s ready for a five star. She tries hard with her hind end, is careful in the front, and she is super fast off the ground.”
Will Simpson (USA) rode his own Chacco P to second-place honors in the class with a time of 39.284 seconds. Peter Petschenig (AUT) and It’s The Senator 111 stopped the clock at 40.681 seconds for third place.

Santiago Lambre and Pampero Dominate the $10,000 Buckeye Nutrition Futures Prix
Santiago Lambre earned his first win of the day aboard his new mount Pampero in the $10,000 Buckeye Nutrition Futures Prix on Saturday. Lambre and 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding bested a field of 31 entries to capture the top spot. The pair navigated through the first course with ease and advanced directly to the jump-off, where they stopped the clock at 40.190 seconds for the blue ribbon.
“Pampero just arrived on Wednesday from Mexico,” explained Lambre. “He was in quarantine for seven days in Miami and came right to WEC. I showed him on Thursday, and he was incredible. My brother rode him in three-star classes in Mexico, so I knew the horse and what he could do. I think I might do the grand prix next week with him because he was fantastic today.”
